Films
As a filmmaker, I focus on creating socially relevant films that engage directly with issues of justice, displacement, identity, power, and survival. My work is rooted in lived experience and long-term relationships with the people and communities I film, prioritizing ethical storytelling over spectacle. Rather than observing from a distance, my films often emerge from years of trust, proximity, and sustained dialogue, allowing complex realities to unfold with nuance and dignity.
My documentary work includes “Derives” (2012), “La Chartes des Distractions” (2014), and “Une Histoire Syrienne” (2014), all of which screened internationally and received festival awards and recognition. After returning to Lebanon, I directed “Maram” (2017), a documentary following a young Syrian refugee girl navigating life on the streets of Beirut, which screened widely and received multiple awards. This was followed by “The Spiral” (2018), an experimental short film exploring the inner conflict between the desire for meaningful change and the fear of embracing it. “Abandoned” (2019), a short narrative film examining systemic neglect due to Lebanon’s gender-biased citizenship law. In 2025, I released “Maram: Between Shadow & Light”, a continuation of Maram’s story years later, which has already received two awards, reaffirming my commitment to long-term, responsible, and socially engaged storytelling.
